SSE Children With Hearts of Gold!
Eight SSE children namely Venu Kumar 9, Giridharan Ganeson 9, Yuvarani Suresh 9, Tan Pui Pui 11, Thanesh Raja 7, Kishanen Raja 9, Harini Krishnan 9, and Parameswary Krishnan 11 all children of the residents of Taman Permai, touched the hearts of the gurus of the Seremban Centre by their overwhelming desire to contribute..
There was a call from a guru, Sis Pushpa whose brother, an orthopaedics surgeon Dr Arul, asked her whether the SSE children could collect tin can openers found on lids of cans containing fizzy drinks as these openers were used in the making of prosthetic limbs in Thailand. When told that there was a need for the tin can openers, a few SSE children spent countless hours looking for tin can openers because they felt they needed to give their bit to help the handicapped get their artificial limbs. The number of can openers collected were astounding.
When asked why they took such a lot of effort and time to look for the pieces of metal, two of the children said they wanted to do their bit for the Sai centre . The others were touched by the plight of the handicapped. The most gratifying was the fact that they were not motivated to contribute because of recognition or rewards. For their efforts, they were given tokens of appreciation and they were surprised when their photos were taken.
After all the hard work, however, it was discovered that the use of the tin flaps had been discontinued and there was no longer any need for the collection. Nevertheless, the effort, concern, enthusiasm and zeal of the children to serve society touched the hearts of many and will stand out as an example for all, both children and adults to follow.
